“For me, women’s football is a big overcoming.”
Meet Ana Beatriz, but everyone calls her Bea. She’s 15 years old and plays football on the hill of Morro dos Prazeres. Bea dreams big. Women’s football is her way of overcoming, and she wants to play in Europe one day, representing Brazil in important games. Her mother, a single parent, inspires her every day with strength.

I have a dream of leaving Brazil.
“I have a dream of leaving Brazil. To play in Europe, for example, to play big games, representing my country.” At home, Bea helps take care of her younger siblings and supports her mother while she trains in Muay Thai. Life on the hill comes with challenges: shootings sometimes prevent her from going to school, and climbing the stairs can be exhausting. But Prazeres United brings joy, energy and hope. Bea’s biggest fear is not being able to achieve her goals, like going to Law school or playing at an international level. But she holds onto her dreams, showing courage, passion, and determination in every step she takes.
